Dairy Herd Management

Dairy Herd Management provides a one stop shop for information on your herd, offering a full range of milk recording services.

From October 2021 all Red Tractor approved farms must complete a veterinary risk assessment for their farm. To assist with this risk assessment, we advise our customers to carry out some Johne’s testing to assess any prevalence on your farm. This could be carried out in the form of a 30-cow screen or whole herd testing. To discuss your requirements, contact Dairy Herd Management on 028 9037 2099 or email milkrecords@dalefarm.co.uk

Farmers Initiatives DHM

Horizon Dairy Beef Partnership

Horizon is a joint venture with ABP designed to provide a market for specifically bred Aberdeen Angus calves from Dale Farm dairy producers which are marketed through the ABP supply chain. As well as offering full traceability, the nutrition needs are met by United Feeds whilst the specialised breeding also achieves greater production efficiencies and a reduction in the farms' carbon footprint.

Farmers Initiatives Horizon

Kingshay Costings Programme

Dale Farm partners with Kingshay to provide a costings service for members, enabling them to benchmark feed costs and efficiency with their peers. This is backed up by advice from our technical team as well as regular technical updates on a range of factors impacting dairy farms.

Our Story Environmental Responsibility

Sustainability

Soil health

We recognise that healthy soils are key to profitable milk production, and we offer soil testing to our members. We have now expanded this option to include soil structure and soil chemistry analysis.

Sustainability

The world around us is changing and at Dale Farm we are all too aware of our responsibility to protect the environment. To help support our members on this changing landscape we have teamed up with Alltech’s E-CO2 programme to conduct a number of carbon footprint audits. This allows farms to benchmark their current position and target future improvements in sustainability and carbon footprint.

Farmers Initiatives United Feeds

United Feeds

Fixed milk price schemes

In response to demand from Dale Farm members we have introduced a number of fixed milk price schemes to help manage milk price volatility. These have been extremely well received by our members.

United Feeds

United Feeds is a manufacturer of blended and compound feeds for dairy, beef and sheep with production facilities in Belfast and Dungannon. Providing innovative nutritional solutions and a comprehensive on-farm advisory service, United Feeds is wholly focused on securing optimal livestock performance and efficiency.

Alongside the core feed manufacturing business, United Feeds markets a select range of farm inputs directly to farm and merchant customers, including fertiliser, calf milk replacer and forage inoculant.

FAQs

Why does Dale Farm insist on Red Tractor Milk?

Red Tractor is a globally recognised assurance standard which helps us demonstrate to our customers that we have a fully traceable product, produced in a hygienic way and which adheres to strict welfare and environmental standards. Working alongside Red Tractor we have been able to get the logo onto even more packs – so consumers know they are getting a quality product when they buy Dale Farm.

How do I know my milk quality results are accurate?

All of our milk collection drivers are trained to Dairy Transport Assurance Scheme (DTAS) standards and the samples, which they collect are kept refrigerated until they reach our lab for further testing. Once in the lab, the samples are sorted and tested by our team of lab technicians. Strict protocols are followed throughout the process and our lab is UKAS accredited which provides a guarantee of the highest standards of testing.
