What is your role within Dale Farm?
I am Dale Farm’s Group Capital Projects Manager and I have been with the business for 35 years. My focus for the past two years has been the overall management of CP2, but prior to that, I looked after capital development programmes right across the business.
What is the CP2 project and how are you involved?
CP2 is simply Cheese Plant 2! We already have a cheese plant at our Dunman site, but with increasing volumes, we needed more processing capacity. So the decision was made to build another cheese plant to deal with the high demand at our Dunman site.
I am responsible for the overall management of the project. There are many contractors involved in the project and it is a major construction project, so my role really is the management and the coordination of all those individuals and the overall project.
What is your biggest achievement in this project to date?
With a project of this size there are several important milestones along the way, and if they are not met the next steps are delayed. For me, the biggest achievement is that we have met each of these targets to date, so nobody is being held back at any stage.
I am also proud of how as a team we have been able to maintain the quality and service levels that Dale Farm customers expect. We’ve been able to build the new plant without having any impact whatsoever on existing production facilities. That is a great achievement.
