What does a day in your role look like?
As a ruminant nutrition advisor, I work alongside dairy, beef and sheep farmers to create the right nutrition and feed plans to deliver performance & efficiency. There is a lot of variety within my role and also seasonal tasks. Sampling forages, measuring grass to calculate grazing intakes, monitoring performance and using computer software to balance diets are a few of the many jobs that fall within my day.
How did you get to where you are today?
My passion for livestock nutrition grew after university, whilst working at a dairy research centre in England and participating in feed trials. After then I started working for a feed mill in Yorkshire. When I got the opportunity to do what I love for a company back here at home, I joined the team at United Feeds.
What do you enjoy the most about working at United Feeds?
I value the relationships I have built with my customers. I take pride in providing a service that supports their business. I truly enjoy the people I work alongside, farmers and co-workers.
