Mary-Jo McPeake

Group Technical Director

The best bit is being part of a Dairy Co-operative company that helps support the local community.

What is your role and what does a normal day look like for you?

Every day is different as the role is so diverse as well as being both challenging and rewarding. As Technical Director, my role involves implementing the technical and risk mitigation strategy for the business while leading with integrity and transparency to enhance our food safety and quality culture. The goal for the quality teams is to provide evidence-based support and advice to improve the business, along with collaborating with other Dale Farm teams, external government bodies, and customers.

What do you enjoy most about your role and Dale Farm?

I enjoy being involved in the manufacturing operations side of the business and working closely with the people at each site. We have an excellent teamwork ethos, and I am incredibly lucky to be surrounded by some great colleagues who are outstanding in their own disciplines, and with whom I have developed strong working relationships.

As it’s food safety week – what are your top tips on food safety for food businesses?

Top tip: Is to implement a robust Food Safety HACCP plan supported with a good pre-requisite programme. Good food hygiene and safety underpins all manufacturing processes, it’s all about doing the basics right.
